The Audi R8 is one of the most famous high-end sports cars out there, and has been the dream car for many people since its release. The original R8 had a 4.2 litre V8, then they moved on to the 5.2 litre V10. At the Detroit Auto Show in 2008, Audi revealed a stunning concept for a 5.9L V12-powered R8. Here’s a picture:

The front looks much more menacing and all the other aspects really take the car to another level. So I ask the question: why the hell didn’t Audi put this beast into production?! And I hope that they’ll consider an R8 V12 for the new model.

Now there is a rumour going around that Audi are considering a V6 powered R8. In fact, there’s a big chance that it’ll happen because Audi have killed off the V8 to make room for a smaller engine. But then I have the thought: now there’s room for a BIGGER engine! So I’ve created a design of what I think a 2017 R8 V12 would look like:

So first of all, the front bumper has changed slightly to look like the 2008 R8 V12. The rear has been slightly elongated to make room for a bigger engine, the side vent has been enlarged, the mirrors slightly shortened, and the wing reshaped. The car is covered in carbon too. I think that this would be a great candidate for the next R8 edition, and hope that Audi will consider a more powerful and hardcore version rather than a slower and less fun R8. The looks of the car would go well with a screaming V12 in my opinion, and would really bring the car up to supercar level.

So what do you think? Should Audi consider an R8 V12 rather than a V6?
